Avignon
Pablo Picasso arrived in Avignon in 1914 seduced by the picturesque landscapes of the region. Picasso settled down here a couple of years. Still today Picasso's memory is very present in all museums of the town. Agladon Museum will present you Pablo Picasso's life and the works he achieved while living here.
Les Baux de Provence
Les Baux de Provence village is an amazing piece of art in the Alpilles. Pablo Picasso succumbed to its unique and historical charm. When Picasso started to work for the cinema industry in 1959, the shooting of his film was in the quarry of this village. Today the latter is the home of Cathedrale of Pictures (la Cathédrale d'Images) welcoming many shows. A couple of works of art are exhibited.
Arles
Picasso is really attached to Arles because it looks like Spain, his home country. Arles is the cradle of cultural Provence wealth with no less than 7 UNESCO world Heritage Monuments. In 1960 Picasso painted the Arlesienne and some portraits. As a gift to his beloved Arles, Picasso gave
57 paintings to the Arles Museum and in 1973 the Museum got 2 additional paintings.
Aix en Provence
Aix en Provence has a baroque architecture, symbolic of Provence with its nice fountains and terraces. But Picasso was seduced by the Ste Victoire Mount spread over Vauvenargues, root of a beautiful painting. Picasso bought the place in 1958, Pablo and his wife Jacqueline rest here today.
